From WFMZ 69 News (5/10/24):
Officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) got a look at the clean-up efforts at a contaminated farm in eastern Berks County Friday.
The agency and Congresswoman Madeleine Dean surveyed the Crossley Farm Superfund site in Hereford Township.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes nearly eleven million dollars to clean what’s known as the “source area” at the site.
“We really need to focus on, with urgency, because after all these are called superfund sites because the contaminants are connected to ill health effects,” said Rep. Dean. “Very often in this case, cancers, so there is in me an absolute urgency.”
